Treatment For Anti Aging

The regular use of anti-ageing skin care products is becoming normal these days; this is due primarily to the fact we are all living longer and want to continue looking younger as we age. This is done using skin care products that encourage the growth of the protein collagen which happens to be the main source of the protein used in the connective tissue of skin; twenty-five per cent of the skin’s protein is collagen. This category of skin products is in fact related to another group of everyday products that help reduce the signs of aging; these are known as antioxidants which remove toxins from the body.

You probably know many anti-oxidants by name, including vitamin C, the use of which is still, even now, hotly debated in the science and nutrition community. The main problem when using any skin care treatments which use vitamin C is that oxidization can occur as soon as they have contact with the air.

To get around this some skin care treatments are based on derivatives of vitamin C, which are more stable and less expensive. Although these products are good, they cannot actually compare with vitamin C but fortunately vitamin E and alpha-lipoic acid are also anti-oxidants so can be used to gain the same effect.

Found in human blood, vitamin E is not only an antioxidant but is designed to boost the immune system’s resistance to illness; it has been linked to resistance to a number of conditions including certain types of cancer. On the other hand, lipoic acid or alpha-lipoic acid is necessary for energy production which keeps us alive; an additional function is to repair skin damage caused by the normal aging process.

Other compounds called phytochemicals have proved to be beneficial in the formulation of anti-ageing skin care products; they are removed from various plants. Phytochemicals prevent occurrence of certain types of cancer; for instance:

* Cancer that attacks the Prostate

* Cancer of the Breast

* Cancer of the Colon

These three types of cancer are also becoming a global problem.

It has also been discovered that there are anti-ageing benefits to vitamins B5, B6 and B12. This just goes to highlight just how complex and far reaching the whole field of anti-ageing skin care products is and why so much more research is required. Although current regimes are quite effective, there are many ways to combat the effects of time; however, research is moving forward rapidly and it is only a matter of time before a new generation of products becomes available.

The amount of research going on in this field will undoubtedly bring results in time, hopefully bringing down the cost of these anti-ageing skin care products in addition to increasing their reliability. However, man-made skin care regimes should be used only as a supplement; in some respects the real way ahead lies in our own hands as there are many things we can do to reduce the signs of aging - naturally. Regular sleep patterns, exercise, a good healthy diet and less stress will all contribute to reducing the signs of ageing, for instance!
